This is the story of one night in Paris – city of gay loves and unhappy marriages.

Edmond Duverne – shrewd enough to study women – but foolish enough to believe he understands them.

Ivory Lady, you can't beat your wife and hold her, too. A woman may be fascinated by a brute – but she can never respect him – and without respect, love cannot last.

Why does marriage spoil men? It makes them just... just husbands.

And so to Duverne came the realization that the more you learn about women, the less you understand them.
